06:58 AM EDT, 03/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The US Navy is expected to announce this week the winner of the contract to build its next-generation carrier-based stealth fighter under the F/A-XX program, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the decision.

The contract would be worth single-digit billions of dollars in the short term, with the potential for hundreds of billions over the next few decades, the report said.

Boeing ( BA ) , Lockheed Martin ( LMT ) , and Northrop Grumman ( NOC ) had submitted detailed proposals and prototypes for evaluation, the report said.

The US Navy did not respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
