07:53 AM EDT, 09/04/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has closed an engineering analysis into front seat belt issues affecting over 1.3 million General Motors ( GM ) vehicles, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing a statement from the regulator.
The investigation, initiated in 2020, focused on the potential detachment of seat belt anchor cables in the 2009-2014 GMC Arcadia, Buick Enclave, and Chevrolet Traverse SUVs, among others, the report said.
NHTSA reportedly closed the probe after GM expanded special coverage to include all affected vehicles, offering component replacement for up to 12 years or 180,000 miles from the initial sale.
NHTSA and GM did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
