07:05 AM EDT, 06/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- US regulators, including the Federal Reserve, FDIC, and OCC, are planning to reduce the supplementary leverage ratio by up to 1.5%, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The change would lower capital requirements for the largest US banks, such as JPMorgan Chase ( JPM ) , Goldman Sachs ( GS ) , and Morgan Stanley ( MS ) , from 5% to a range of 3.5% to 4.5%, the report said.
The plan will focus on revising the overall ratio rather than exempting specific assets like Treasuries, although public comment will be solicited, the report added.
The Federal Reserve said it plans to discuss the proposal on June 25, while other regulators have yet to announce their agendas for the changes, according to the report.
The Federal Reserve declined to comment, while the FDIC, and OCC did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
