10:18 AM EDT, 09/19/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The US Securities and Exchange Commission will propose a rule change after President Donald Trump suggested moving quarterly earnings reports to a semiannual schedule, CNBC reported Friday, citing an interview with SEC Chair Paul Atkins.
"I welcome that posting by the president, and I have talked to him about it," Atkins told CNBC. "In principle, I think to propose change in what our rules are now, I think would be a good way forward, and then we'll consider that and move forward after that."
Companies would then decide whether to switch to semiannual reporting or keep reporting quarterly, if the change is approved, Atkins said.
