07:10 AM EDT, 09/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States has until Sept. 23 to complete its review of Nippon Steel's $14.9 billion bid for US Steel (X) and make a recommendation, Reuters reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.
If CFIUS officials do not extend the 90-day review on that date, they could either approve the deal with proposed measures to address national security concerns or recommend that the White House block it, according to the report.
CFIUS, US Steel and Nippon Steel did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
