Market Chatter: Valero Energy Facing Lawsuit by Worker Over Texas Refinery Incident
Mar 26, 2026 2:09 AM

04:53 AM EDT, 03/26/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Valero Energy ( VLO ) has been sued by a man who sustained injuries in an explosion at the company's Port Arthur, Texas, refinery on Monday, Reuters reported late Wednesday, citing a lawsuit filed in the Jefferson County District Court in Beaumont.

The lawsuit seeks more than $1 million in damages, the media outlet said.

The man, Jonathan Jaimes, faced injuries to his back, neck, spine, and other parts of his body, Reuters said, citing the lawsuit.

"This was not an unavoidable accident - it was the result of gross negligence and a flagrant disregard for worker safety," Kyle Findley, the attorney at Arnold & Itkin representing Jaimes, told Reuters.

Neither Valero nor Findley immediately responded to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
