10:10 AM EDT, 04/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Vietnam's offer to remove tariffs on US imports isn't enough for the Trump administration to eliminate new levies announced last week because "it's the nontariff cheating that matters," White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said Monday in an interview with CNBC.
Navarro cited Chinese products being routed through the Southeast Asian country, intellectual property theft and a value added tax as examples of non-tariff "cheating."
The zero tariffs would be a "small first start," Navarro said, according to CNBC.
