01:38 PM EDT, 05/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Visa (V), PNC Financial Services Group ( PNC ) , and Synchrony Financial ( SYF ) are among the 29 companies hacking group Scattered Spider has targeted since April 20, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing an unnamed senior threat researcher at Resilience Cyber Insurance Solutions.
Scattered Spider, which is accused of previous breaches at MGM Resorts International ( MGM ) and Clorox (CLX), successfully compromised at least two insurance companies, Bloomberg reported, quoting an unnamed senior threat researcher at Resilience.
The attackers used lookalike domains that matched target companies, hosted fake log-in pages and sent phishing links to employees via emails and text messages, the report added, citing Resilience.
Visa, PNC, and Synchrony Financial ( SYF ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
