04:18 AM EDT, 08/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Walt Disney ( DIS ) has agreed to let the court decide on a wrongful death lawsuit filed by a widower in Florida, Reuters reported late Monday.
The company has waived its right to arbitration, allowing the case to proceed in court, Reuters said, citing an email statement from Disney Experience chairman Josh D'Amaro.
"We believe this situation warrants a sensitive approach to expedite a resolution for the family who have experienced such a painful loss," D'Amaro added.
Jeffrey Piccolo had filed a lawsuit after his wife, Kanokporn Tangsuan, died from an allergic reaction following a meal at Raglan Road Irish Pub in Disney Springs on Oct.5, 2023, which advertised accommodating people with food allergies.
Disney ( DIS ) initially did not mention arbitration; instead, according to the report, it argued that it was not liable because it merely served as its landlord.
Disney ( DIS ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
