Market Chatter: Warner Bros. Discovery Sues Midjourney Over Alleged Theft of Intellectual Property
Sep 5, 2025 4:21 AM

07:07 AM EDT, 09/05/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Warner Bros. Discovery ( WBD ) has filed a lawsuit against Midjourney accusing that the artificial intelligence startup let customers generate images and videos of Wonder Woman, Superman and other characters without the company's permission, Bloomberg News reported Thursday, citing a court filing.

Midjourney is not authorized to use or sell reproductions of Warner Bros. characters, according to the report.

"Midjourney has made a calculated and profit-driven decision to offer zero protection for copyright owners even though Midjourney knows about the breathtaking scope of its piracy and copyright infringement," Warner Bros. reportedly said in the complaint filed in Los Angeles federal court.

The companies didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
