Market Chatter: Whirlpool Flags Possible Tariff Evasion by Rivals
Sep 15, 2025 4:12 AM

06:52 AM EDT, 09/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Whirlpool (WHR) has told US authorities its overseas competitors may be evading tariffs by undervaluing their imports, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday.

Citing federal import data, the company said declared customs values for items including washing machines, gas ranges and garbage disposals began dropping sharply in June, while retail prices of those appliances didn't fall, according to the report.

Whirlpool has shared its concerns with US Customs and Border Protection but has not filed a formal complaint, the report said.

Whirlpool did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
