07:14 AM EDT, 06/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The White House is set to name Christy Goldsmith Romero to head the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Goldsmith Romero currently serves as a member of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Earlier she served as a special inspector general for the Troubled Asset Relief Program at the Treasury Department during the financial crisis that began in 2008, the Journal reported.
Martin Gruenberg, the current chair of the banking agency, is stepping down after an external investigation found widespread sexual harassment and other misconduct.
