Market Chatter: XPeng's Brian Gu Flags Impact of US' China EV Tariffs on Carbon Neutrality, Green Energy Transition
May 17, 2024 5:15 AM

07:46 AM EDT, 05/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- XPeng ( XPEV ) Co-President Brian Gu said the latest US tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles could impede targets focused on carbon neutrality and green energy transition, Reuters reported Friday, citing the executive's remarks at a media briefing in Hong Kong.

"This has no impact on Xpeng Motors at the moment, but for such a large market as a whole, I hope that in the future it can become more open, allowing global products to enter and compete," Gu reportedly said.

Xpeng ( XPEV ) is also evaluating tariff levels in the European Union that would make it relocate manufacturing overseas, according to the report.

XPeng ( XPEV ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
