McCormick Seeing Uptick in Reformulation Activity Across Customer Base, CEO Says
Mar 25, 2025 9:49 AM

12:15 PM EDT, 03/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- McCormick ( MKC ) is seeing a lot of reformulation and new product development across its customer base, Chief Executive Brendan Foley said in an earnings call Tuesday.

Foley said that while the company's consumer portfolio doesn't use much color in its products, it is seeing an increase in reformulation activity.

The CEO noted the the company has long supported customers with product reformulation but is now seeing a surge in demand for these services. The increase coincides with growing regulatory scrutiny of food additives under the new administration, as widely reported in recent media coverage.

Foley emphasized that the focus extends beyond colors, with ongoing work on sodium reduction and broader trends like hydration, functional foods, and high-protein products. He did not name specific customers or products but highlighted that McCormick ( MKC ) continues to support innovation and healthier formulations across both its consumer and flavor solutions segments.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is reported to have advocated for the removal of artificial food dyes, according to a recent Bloomberg report.

McCormick ( MKC ) didn't immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
