08:17 AM EST, 01/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- McDonald's (MCD) is rolling back some of its policies on increasing diversity and minority representation in its business operations, according to a note sent to franchisees, employees and suppliers Monday.
The company said it is ending the "setting aspirational representation goals" and instead keeping its "focus on continuing to embed inclusion practices."
It also said it is "pausing" surveys on its inclusion practices and ending a pledge to advance diversity, equity and inclusion among suppliers.
The company said it will rename its diversity team to "Global Inclusion Team."
The company said inclusion remains one of its core values but described a "shifting legal landscape" on diversity matters.
"Our system thrives when we are shaped by the communities in which we operate," the company said. "Our priority is to be a responsible business, acting lawfully and being responsive to the business environment."
