12:33 PM EDT, 05/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- McDonald's (MCD) unit in China said Monday it is "actively cooperating" with market regulators there to investigate and verify media reports about local food issues.

"We will never tolerate any violation of operating standards and will deal with it seriously," McDonald's China said in a statement on its website, without providing details.

It issued an apology and promised to further strengthen restaurant operating regulations.
