06:24 AM EDT, 10/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- McDonald's (MCD) and the Colorado Department of Agriculture said Sunday that the restaurant's beef patties did not cause an ongoing outbreak of E. Coli virus.

"We have ruled out Quarter Pounder patties as the source," said McDonald's North America Chief Supply Chain Officer Cesar Pina. "The issue appears to be contained to a particular ingredient and geography, and we remain very confident that any contaminated product related to this outbreak has been removed from our supply chain and is out of all McDonald's restaurants."

Colorado regulators said they have received and analyzed multiple lots of McDonald's beef patties collected for an E. Coli investigation and given the food a clean bill of health.

McDonald's said it has discontinued use of livered onions from Taylor Farms' Colorado Springs facility, which is now under Food and Drug Administration investigation as a possible cause of the outbreak.

McDonald's said food providers and restaurant brands that received onions from the facility have also moved to stop selling the onions.
