09:26 AM EDT, 07/02/2024 (MT Newswires) -- MDA Space ( MDALF ) on Tuesday appointed Karl Smith to its Board of Directors and named Janet McEachern as interim chief financial officer.

Smith immediately joins the audit committee and is expected to assume the role of audit committee chair following the board meeting in August. His appointment increases the size of the MDA Space Board to nine directors. Smith held a variety of executive roles within the Fortis Group (FTS.TO) including president and CEO of FortisAlberta, and president and CEO of Newfoundland Power.

Janet McEachern has been at MDA Space ( MDALF ) since 2020 and is currently vice president, finance, leading the corporate finance functions such as financial planning & analysis. She replaces Vito Culmone who is leaving the company to pursue another career opportunity. The search for a new chief financial officer is underway
