MDA Wins Contract for Square Kilometre Array Project

09:09 AM EDT, 06/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- MDA Space ( MDALF ) won a contract awarded by the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) to help develop, construct, and integrate radio telescope technology for the Square Kilometre Array Observatory (SKAO), an international space exploration and astronomy project.

The SKAO telescopes are made up of arrays of antennas, including hundreds of mid- to high-frequency antennas in South Africa and over 100,000 low-frequency antennas in Australia.

Canada said on Monday that has it formally joined the SKAO, making it the 10th member of the organization that includes Australia, China, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland and the U.K.
