Despite the rise in COVID-19 cases and the challenges of operating manufacturing and other economic activities under different stages of the lockdown, all businesses are getting back on track. The media and entertainment industry was severely affected in April, May and June with broadcast television having no fresh content and a few niche channels having to shut down.

However, OTT services and streaming platforms experienced a massive surge in subscribers, and with content production resuming, things seem to be getting better for the industry.

Zee started off as India's first satellite TV channel in 1992, has morphed into one of India's top diversified entertainment companies with a large global presence.

Besides the challenges of the pandemic, Zee Entertainment has had a tumultuous time in the past year with founder Subhash Chandra's promoter group having to bring down its share in the company to a little over 4 percent.
