09:29 AM EDT, 09/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Medtronic ( MDT ) said Tuesday it was granted clearances by the US Food and Drug Administration related to its MiniMed 780G automated insulin delivery system for people with diabetes.

The company said it received clearance for its SmartGuard algorithm as an interoperable automated glycemic controller enabling integration with the Abbott Laboratories ( ABT )-made (ABT) Instinct sensor for type 1 diabetes.

Medtronic ( MDT ) said it also obtained approval of the MiniMed 780G system for use in adults with insulin-requiring type 2 diabetes from the agency.

Medtronic ( MDT ) and Abbott plan to finish the required compliance documentation in the coming weeks to enable sensor integration and marketing, Medtronic ( MDT ) said.
