Meet Sandeep Bakhshi: The new boss of ICICI Bank

ICICI Bank on Thursday appointed Sandeep Bakhshi as the CEO and MD, replacing Chanda Kochhar after she sought an early retirement from the bank.

Bakhshi was currently serving as the whole time director and chief operating officer of ICICI Bank.

Here are some quick facts about Bakhshi:

Sandeep Bakhshi has been associated with the ICICI bank group for 32 years, working across its diverse verticals.

Bakhshi has been the managing director and CEO of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company since August 1, 2010 and and was re-appointed from August 1, 2015.

Prior to this role, he was the deputy managing director of ICICI Bank. In this role, he headed the retail and subsequently the wholesale business at the bank. He looked after the corporate clients for the northern and eastern regions of ICICI Ltd before joining ICICI Lombard in 2002.

His work responsibilities included business development, project appraisals, project monitoring and business re-structuring.

Bakhshi has also been the managing director and chief executive officer of ICICI Lombard General Insurance.

He has obtained his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh and a post-graduate degree in business management from Xavier Labour Relations Institute, Jamshedpur.
