Meta Platforms' CEO Mark Zuckerberg Wins Judge's Dismissal of Personal Liability in Facebook, Instagram Lawsuits
Apr 16, 2024 5:34 AM

08:05 AM EDT, 04/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms' ( META ) Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg won a dismissal Monday by a US district judge of his personal liability in 25 cases alleging Facebook and Instagram were developed in ways to "foster compulsive" use by children and adolescents.

US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers dismissed claims of "fraudulent and negligent concealment and misrepresentation" against Zuckerberg.

The lawsuits alleged Zuckerberg and Meta did not disclose all facts about their social media platforms and thus plaintiffs suffered "injuries" that could have been avoided if all facts had been disclosed. The judge ruled that Zuckerberg was not liable to disclose safety information absent "special relationships" with the users and thus could not be held liable.

Meta did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
