01:20 PM EDT, 05/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms ( META ) has formed a Meta Advisory Group that consists of outside advisors, the company disclosed on its website.

Meta's management team will periodically consult the group on strategic opportunities related to technology and product roadmap, as per the website.

The group comprises Shopify ( SHOP ) Chief Executive Tobi Lutke, Stripe Chief Executive Patrick Collison, former GitHub Chief Executive Nat Friedman, and investor Charlie Songhurst.

This group is different than a board as its members are not elected by shareholders and have no fiduciary duty to Meta, a company spokesperson told Bloomberg News Wednesday. The group's members will not get paid, the news outlet reported.

Meta Platforms ( META ) didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
