01:28 PM EST, 11/04/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms ( META ) said Monday it is allowing US government agencies and contractors to use its open-source Llama artificial intelligence models for defense and national security applications.
Facebook's parent company said it is collaborating with various companies including Accenture ( ACN ) , Amazon ( AMZN ) , Booz Allen (BAH), IBM ( IBM ) , Lockheed Martin ( LMT ) , Microsoft ( MSFT ) , Oracle (ORCL), and Palantir Technologies ( PLTR ) to provide Llama to the US government.
Meta said Llama has been incorporated by Lockheed into its AI Factory, accelerating various uses cases such as code generation and data analysis.
Responsible and ethical uses of open-source AI models such as Llama will support the security of the US and " help establish US open-source standards in the global race for AI leadership," Meta said.
Lockheed and Palantir ( PLTR ) didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
