Meta Platforms Sued for Wrongful Dismissal of Employee who Tried to Adjust Gaza Moderation

06:54 AM EDT, 06/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms ( META ) has been accused by a former employee in a lawsuit of anti-Palestinian bias in its moderation of Instagram posts, Reuters reported Wednesday.

Palestinian-American engineer Ferras Hamad said in a lawsuit filed in a California state court on Tuesday that he was fired in February by Meta Platforms ( META ) for attempting to fix what Reuters described as "bugs" that caused Palestinian social media posts to be removed.

He is suing for discrimination, wrongful termination and other wrongdoing, Reuters said.

Meta Platforms ( META ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
