01:11 PM EST, 02/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms ( META ) said Tuesday it will introduce a version of Instagram in India specifically catered to keeping teenagers safe.

The roll out of Instagram Teen Accounts in India will be in phases and would offer a "more secure and age-appropriate space for teens online," Meta said in a statement.

The accounts will also include parental controls and oversight, particularly for teens under 16, and will come with settings to restrict certain types of content.

The new teen accounts will automatically place teen users in the highest safety settings, Meta said.
