Meta to Allow More AI-Generated Content on its Sites
Apr 5, 2024 8:46 AM

11:20 AM EDT, 04/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms ( META ) said Friday it is changing its policies on handling "manipulated media" allowing more artificial intelligence-generated content on Facebook, Instagram and Threads to avoid the risk of unnecessarily restricting freedom of speech.

"We agree that providing transparency and additional context is now the better way to address this content," Meta wrote in a blog post.

The company said that starting in May it will start "labeling" AI-generated content that is manipulating but does not violate other policies and "stop removing content" solely based on its manipulated video policy in July.

The new policy refers to "digitally-created or altered images, video or audio", the company said.
