MEXICO CITY, April 25 (Reuters) - Mexico's largest
broadcaster Televisa reversed losses in the first quarter, it
said on Thursday, swinging to a profit after reducing financial
expenses by nearly 50%.
Net profit reached 951.8 million Mexican pesos ($57.6
million) in the January to March period, from the 788.9 million
peso loss in the same quarter in 2023, according to a filing to
Mexico's stock exchange.
The company credited the profit in large part to cutting
financial expenses by 1.02 billion pesos, a 47.4% drop from the
2.15 billion pesos in financial expenses reported in the first
quarter last year.
Company revenues, meanwhile, fell 4.8% from the year before
to 15.95 billion pesos, due principally to a 12.3% drop in
revenues from its satellite TV unit Sky, which saw 250,600
disconnections.
The company's operating profits decreased 12.5%.
