Mar 16, 2026 1:27 AM

03:35 AM EDT, 03/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Micron Technology ( MU ) said Sunday that it has completed the acquisition of Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing's P5 semiconductor site in Miaoli County, Taiwan.

The company said the facility will operate as an extension of its campus in Taichung, strengthening its vertically integrated manufacturing network in Taiwan and helping expand production of advanced DRAM products, including HBM, to meet rising AI-related demand.

Micron said it began preparing the Tongluo facility after announcing the deal in January 2026, adding that initial product shipments are expected to begin in fiscal 2028.

The company also said it plans to build a second facility at the site, adding roughly 270,000 square feet of cleanroom space, with construction targeted to begin by the end of fiscal 2026.
