07:10 AM EDT, 06/14/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) said Thursday it will postpone the launch of its AI-powered Recall computer usage tracking feature amid privacy concerns.
In an update to a blog item posted last week, the company said it will instead preview the feature with a small group.
"This decision is rooted in our commitment to providing a trusted, secure and robust experience for all customers," Microsoft ( MSFT ) vice-president for Windows and devices Pavan Davuluri said in the blog post.
The feature tracks websites visited, voice chats and other activity to create a history that can be accessed months later. It was originally set to launch as a feature of the company's Copilot+ tool on June 18, but will instead be tested as part of the company's Windows Insider Program.
