12:14 PM EDT, 09/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) said Tuesday it has developed and successfully tested new cooling technology that could improve how hot-running artificial intelligence chips are managed inside datacenters.
The company said that according to lab tests, its new microfluidic cooling system removes heat up to three times more effectively than cold plates.
The system works by running liquid coolant directly inside the chip itself, through tiny etched channels, allowing it to reach the heat source faster and more efficiently, the company said, adding that the technology was able to keep a server cool while running simulated Microsoft Teams meetings.
