01:25 PM EDT, 10/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft's ( MSFT ) GitHub plans to integrate AI models from Anthropic and Alphabet's (GOOG) Google ( GOOG ) into its coding assistant, GitHub Copilot, providing users other options than OpenAI's models, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday.

Initially, developers will be able to use Google's ( GOOG ) Gemini and Anthropic's Claude 3.5 Sonnet for interactive coding assistance, GitHub reportedly said at a conference in San Francisco on Tuesday.

OpenAI's models will remain the default, but GitHub aims to offer greater flexibility for users, particularly those utilizing Google ( GOOG ) and Amazon cloud services, Bloomberg reported.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) shares rose 1.2% in recent trading.
