Microsoft President to Testify to Congress on Cybersecurity Breaches

08:27 AM EDT, 05/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) president and vice-chair Brad Smith has been summoned to appear before the US House Committee on Homeland Security to give sworn public testimony about the company's cybersecurity breaches, a letter from the committee released Thursday said.

Smith is to appear before lawmakers on May 22, to present a response to the Department of Homeland Security Cyber Safety Review Board's recent report about the summer 2023 breach of Microsoft's ( MSFT ) Online Exchange servers by suspected state-backed actors linked to China.

The letter also mentioned a recent breach by suspected Russian hackers of Microsoft's ( MSFT ) corporate email accounts.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
