08:06 AM EDT, 08/27/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) President Brad Smith said Tuesday that the company is investigating the employees who held a protest to draw attention to allegations that the company's Azure cloud software was being used as a tool of indiscriminate surveillance and warfare against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
Smith said the company launched a formal investigation two weeks ago into the allegations.
"We're committed to ensuring that our human rights principles and contractual terms of service are upheld...everywhere, all around the world," he said, according to a video posted online.
Smith said the employees could be subject to disciplinary measures.
Seven employees part of a campaign called "No Azure for Apartheid" entered Smith's office Tuesday and held a protest to draw attention to the matter, refusing to leave when requested.
