Microsoft Reportedly Fires 2 Software Engineers for Disrupting Event Over Israel Ties

05:34 AM EDT, 04/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) has fired two software engineers who protested against the company's sales of AI products to the Israeli military at a company event Friday, news outlets reported Monday.

One Canada-based AI software engineer was fired Monday for "just cause, wilful misconduct, disobedience or wilful neglect of duty," CNBC reported, citing an internal document. .

Another software engineer who had vowed to resign April 11 was terminated Monday, CNBC reported.

The employees publicly voiced criticism of Microsoft's ( MSFT ) purported Israeli ties at events marking the software giant's 50th anniversary.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
