06:37 AM EDT, 07/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- A software update by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike (CRWD) caused disruptions to about 8.5 million Microsoft ( MSFT ) devices, affecting less than one percent of all Windows machines, the company said on Saturday via blog post.
"While the percentage was small, the broad economic and societal impacts reflect the use of CrowdStrike by enterprises that run many critical services," Microsoft ( MSFT ) said.
CrowdStrike helped the company's Azure platform to accelerate a fix for the faulty update. It also collaborated with Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform to resolve the issues and share information across the industry.
