Microsoft Shutters Bethesda Game Development Studios
May 7, 2024 8:40 AM

11:18 AM EDT, 05/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) has closed several of its Bethesda game development studios, including Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks and Alpha Dog Studios, according to multiple news reports on Tuesday.

In an email to staff obtained by the gaming news website IGN, the head of Microsoft's ( MSFT ) Xbox Game Studios, Matt Booty, said the moves reflect a "reprioritization of titles and resources" and that a "small number of roles across select Bethesda publishing and corporate teams will also be eliminated" without specifying the number of jobs lost.

The Roundhouse Games team will join ZeniMax Online Studios, according to Booty's email posted by IGN.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) did not immediately respond to a request from MT Newswires seeking comment and additional information on Tuesday.
