Microsoft Stops Selling New Movies, TV Shows
Jul 18, 2025 11:11 AM

01:31 PM EDT, 07/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) has stopped selling new movies and television shows on Microsoft.com, the Microsoft Store on Windows, and the Microsoft Store on Xbox, the company said in an update to users Friday.

However, users can access previously purchased titles through the Microsoft Movies & TV app on Xbox consoles and Windows devices, Microsoft ( MSFT ) said. Downloaded content will continue to play, with support for HD resolution on Windows, the company added.

Users can still watch personal videos on Xbox and access downloads and playback features on Windows. Refunds will not be issued for previously purchased content, but support will remain available, the company said.

Though content cannot be transferred to other services, US-based users can connect to third-party platforms like Movies Anywhere, which supports Amazon.com's ( AMZN ) Amazon Prime Video, Apple's ( AAPL ) streaming service Apple TV, and Fandango at Home, according to the company.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) didn't immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
