05:42 AM EDT, 05/01/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) said Wednesday it will build a new AI-powered data center region in Thailand.
The company said the data center project will extend the availability of Microsoft's ( MSFT ) cloud-based services in the country. It did not disclose the size of the investment.
Microsoft ( MSFT ) Chairman and Chief Executive Satya Nadella and Thailand Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin appeared together at a Bangkok event to announce the initiative. Microsoft ( MSFT ) also said it is partnering with numerous Thai government bodies, including the ministries of digital economy, tourism, and labor to encourage the adoption of its tools in the tourism industry.
The company said the data center is part of a broader plan to invest in training and infrastructure in partnership with governments, nonprofit organizations, and corporations in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
