11:50 AM EDT, 09/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) said Thursday it is planning to invest an additional $4 billion over the next three years to build a second artificial intelligence data center in Wisconsin.
The new pledge brings the company's total investment in Wisconsin to more than $7 billion, including the initial $3.3 billion Fairwater AI data center in Mount Pleasant, the company said.
The Fairwater facility, which remains on track to open in early 2026, will be equipped with hundreds of thousands of Nvidia ( NVDA ) graphics processing units designed to deliver 10 times the performance of today's fastest supercomputers, Microsoft ( MSFT ) said.
Microsoft ( MSFT ) said it intends to hire 500 full-time employees when the first data center becomes fully operational, with the number rising to 800 with the opening of the second data center.
