Microsoft Urges Trump Administration to Overhaul AI Chip Export Limits
Feb 27, 2025 8:43 AM

11:19 AM EST, 02/27/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) on Thursday called on the Trump administration to overhaul artificial intelligence chip export control rules proposed in the previous administration.

The Biden rule limits the ability of American tech companies to build and expand AI data centers in US allies, such as India and Israel, Microsoft ( MSFT ) Vice Chair and President Brad Smith said in a blog post.

"Left unchanged, the Biden rule will give China a strategic advantage in spreading over time its own AI technology, echoing its rapid ascent in 5G telecommunications a decade ago," Smith said.

The White House didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
