05:43 AM EDT, 04/19/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) -backed OpenAI hired its first employee in India to lead public policy affairs and partnerships in the country, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing undisclosed sources familiar with the matter.

The ChatGPT developer reportedly hired Pragya Misra, who previously worked at Truecaller AB and Meta Platforms (META), as government relations head in a bid to influence artificial intelligence regulations.

Misra is expected to start near the end of month, Bloomberg said.

OpenAI did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
