03:10 PM EST, 12/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed (MSFT) OpenAI has launched a public preview of its AI video generation tool Sora, which works similarly to the company's DALL-E image generator, OpenAI said in a statement Monday.

The new tool allows users to create high-quality video clips by simply typing out a description or using still images to inspire videos, the company said.

Sora can also extend existing videos or fill in missing frames, offering features like blending scenes together and creating videos that repeat endlessly, the company said during a livestream.

The tool will be immediately available in the US and most non-European countries, and will be bundled into existing ChatGPT Plus and Pro accounts, according to the statement.
