Microsoft-Backed OpenAI Reportedly Releases Employees From Non-Disparagement Agreement
May 24, 2024 9:54 AM

12:44 PM EDT, 05/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed (MSFT) OpenAI has notified former employees that the startup hasn't canceled and won't cancel any vested units regardless of whether they signed a general release agreement that included a non-disparagement provision, media outlets reported Friday.

In an internal memo sent to former employees and shared with current ones, OpenAI said it also won't enforce any other non-disparagement or non-solicitation contract items that the worker may have executed, CNBC reported.

"We'll remove nondisparagement clauses from our standard departure paperwork, and we'll release former employees from existing nondisparagement obligations unless the nondisparagement provision was mutual," OpenAI said in a statement.

OpenAI didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
