06:32 AM EST, 02/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) -backed OpenAI and the SoftBank Group said Monday that they have formed a partnership to develop and market advanced enterprise artificial intelligence called "Cristal Intelligence."

The Japanese investment giant will also spend $3 billion annually to deploy the solutions across its group companies.

Cristal Intelligence will integrate systems and data of individual enterprises for customized AI applications for each company, the company said.

OpenAI and the SoftBank have also agreed to establish a 50/50 joint venture called SB OpenAI Japan to accelerate the deployment of Cristal Intelligence customized for Japan-based companies.

The JV will have exclusive marketing rights to Cristal Intelligence.
