01:14 PM EDT, 05/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed (MSFT) OpenAI is set to acquire former Apple (AAPL) design chief Jony Ive's Io Products startup, OpenAI said Wednesday.

The Financial Times and other outlets said OpenAI will acquire the startup for about $6.5 billion.

OpenAI did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
