02:18 PM EDT, 07/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Montrose Environmental Group ( MEG ) early Tuesday said it was providing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, treatment services to alleviate their impact leaching into groundwater from a Waste Connections (WCN) Champ Landfill in Missouri.
Federal regulators issued new guidelines in January 2023 setting new landfill leachate thresholds and treatment standards for PFAS.
Waste Connections ( WCN ) has already been working to reduce contamination created by rainwater passing through containing those substances and recently tapped a Montrose subsidiary to identify the best treatment system.
Montrose is expected to create a full-scale treatment system along with programs to educate the public on on PFAS and the treatment system.
Montrose shares were down 5% recently, while Waste Connections ( WCN ) was fractionally lower.
