06:04 PM EDT, 09/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Mosaic (MOS) late Thursday said Q3 sales volumes of potash and phosphates would likely trail its prior forecasts due to production disruptions and other operational challenges at several facilities.
The company is now expecting potash sales between 1.85 million to 2.05 million tonnes during Q3, down from its earlier guidance looking for 2.1 million to 2.3 million tonnes.
Mosaic last week said potash production at its Colonsay mine and its flagship Esterhazy facility was negatively disrupted by unspecified issues with electrical equipment. It said potash prices for the current quarter were in-line with its prior forecast expecting $200 to $220 per ton.
The company also said the Port of Tampa in Florida has been closed down in anticipation of Hurricane Helene which will interrupt phosphate production and shipments from Louisiana.
Hurricane Francine earlier this month also had a negative impact on phosphate production, it said.
