09:20 AM EST, 01/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Natural gas traded lower early on Monday as forecasts see milder weather on the way for much of the United States.
Gas for February delivery was last seen down US$0.13 to US$3.82 per million British thermal units.
The drop comes despite a polar vortex that is bringing bitter cold to much of the eastern United States with freezing temperatures as far south as Houston boosting heating demand.
However long-term forecasts see warmer temperatures on the way. The National Weather Service's six to 10 day forecast sees states east of the Rocky Mountains with seasonal weather over the period and rising to above average in the eight to 14 day outlook, easing demand.
